-John Knowles was born in 1789 in Ireland. He married Rose Crawford who was born in Scotland in about 1796. They migrated to Connecticut, U.S.A. in about 1850.
Their daughter Mary Knowles married Daniel Harper and they emigrated to Connecticut where their son Samuel Knowles Harper was born at Strawberry Hills, Connecticut on 11 February 1851. They moved to Lanark, Ontario where John and his wife are buried. Samuel Knowles Harper is my great-grandfather.
