Notes for Thomas Easton - Direct Ancestor (Family North American Pioneer)
-Thomas Easton was born in 1793 in Lesmahagow, Scotland. He married Mary MacDonald Chambers in about 1816. She was born in 1797 at Lesmahagow, Scotland. Thomas’s ancestors were weavers by trade. They had been forced to flee Antrim County, Ireland to Scotland in 1641 because of the rebellion started by Sir Phelim O’Neill. Thomas and his wife were accepted as part of the Lanark Settlers Society and in 1820 they boarded the ship “Prompt” and sailed for Quebec City and then travelled to Lanark County in Ontario, Canada. They arrived in the fall and had two months to build a shelter to survive the winter and to clear two acres of land so they could plant in the spring to fend off starvation.

Their son John Easton married Annie Park and in the next generation their daughter Lillian Easton is my great-grandmother.
