-James Ensign was born in Rye, Sussex, England. He married Sarah Elson in about 1630. They were Puritans. They emigrated to Cambridge, Massachusetts, BNA in 1634 where he was made a “freeman” on 4 March1634. They were Puritans. He relocated to Hartford, Connecticut with Reverend Thomas Hooker in 1636. He was Constable for Hartford in 1649.
Their daughter Hannah Ensign married Joseph Easton, son of Deacon Joseph and Sarah (or Mary) Easton. James is on the Founders Monument in Hartford, Connecticut.
