Notes for Reverend Samuel Stone - Direct Ancestor (Family North American Pioneer)
-Reverend Samuel Stone was born in 1602 in Hertfordshire, England. He was a Puritan. He attended Cambridge University in England, matriculating 1620, receiving his bachelor degree in 1624 and his Masters degree in 1627. He married Hope Flectcher in about 1625. He was ministering at Sistedt, Essex in 1628 and a lecturer at Towchester, Northumberland. They emigrated to the Massachusetts Bay Colony on board the “Griffin” with the Reverend Thomas Hooker in 1633.  He relocated to Hartford in 1636 with Reverend Thomas Hooker and was his assistant. He took over Rev. Hookers Church when he died. He is on the monument as one of the original founders of Hartford.
 
Their daughter Sarah Stone married Sergeant Thomas Butler.
