William Twining was born in 1605 in England. He married Anne Doane in England. The emigrated about 1640 and settled at Yarmouth, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. In 1645 was a soldier fighting against the Narragansetts. He was an elected Constable in 1651. He was granted 2 acres of meadow “lying at the head of the “Great Namshaket”. He also had several parcels of land at Rock Harbour, Poche and several other places on the Cape. He died on 15 April 1659 at Eastham. Anne died on 27 February 1680.
 
Their daughter Isabel married Frances Baker on 17 June 1641 at Yarmouth, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.
