-John Foy was born in about 1730 in County Fermanagh, Ireland. He emigrated to New York in about 1750 and married Mary Van Pelt. She was the daughter of Jan Teunissen Van Pelt and Maria Dragaud both from Staten Island.
 
John Foy and Mary Van Pelt’s son, John Foy, was born in 1 April 1762 and fought as a private with the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Regiment of New York during the Revolutionary War. He had to flee to Prince Edward Island in 1783 and was awarded United Empire Loyalist (UEL) status. He was a Justice of the Peace. He married Mary (Polly) Warren, daughter of Captain William Warren and Jane, widow of John Gouldrup and lived at Tryon, Prince Edward Island.
 
Their son John Foy was married to Mary Margaret Stewart. In the next generation their daughter Catherine Foy was married to William Lebans and they lived at Blackville, New Brunswick, Canada.
