-Derrick Bentsen (Benson) and was born in about 1624 in Sweden. He migrated to Holland and married Catelin Berck on 11 September 1648 in Amsterdam. They were members of the Dutch Reform Church. They emigrated to New Amsterdam in 1649 and purchased a lot near the fort. In 1654 he went to Fort Orange (Albany) where he built a house and assisted in the building of the new church in 1656. Because of the French and Indian hostilities thy moved to New York just before 1700.
Their daughter Maria Dirkse married Colckert Van Hoesen. In the next generation their daughter Volkje Van Hoesen married Wynand Willemse Van Den Berg.
