-Nicholas Simpkins, born in 1600, was from London, England and was a tailor and draper by trade. He married Isabel Saule on 9 November 1628 at Saint Gabriel Fenchurch, London. She was born before 8 February 1607 in St. Michael Parish, Cornhill, London, England. They were Puritans. Nicholas emigrated to Boston in 1635. Nicholas was the first captain of the fort on Castle Island in Boston Harbour in 1635/36. On 14 April 1636 he was brought before Governor Winthrop for “braving Lt. Morris and telling him in public that he lied”. They moved to Yarmouth in 1638, then back to Boston in 1649. In 1650 he was part of the “Ancient and Honourable Artillery”. Both Nicholas and Isabel made Depositions in 1654. Nicholas died on 1 June 1654.
