Notes for Robert Potter
-Robert Potter born 17 January 1608 in Coventry, Warwickshire, England and married Isabel Anthony. They were Puritans. He emigrated  1634 in the ship with Reverend Nathaniel Ward. In 1634 he and Isabel were members of the First Church of Roxbury, Massachusetts. He is called before the Court in 1638 and probably as a result he was forced to leave Massachusetts and seek refuge in Rhode Island. There he took an oath of allegiance 30 April 1639. He then sought land from Chief Miantonomi in Shawomet, where he was one of twelve founders of the town Warwick. Massachusetts ordered the men of Warwick to come to court to answer for their sins. Massachusetts sent armed men to bring them to court. The women and children fled, some to other towns, some to the woods. Isabel Anthony Potter and at least two others died of exposure. On 29 August 1643 Robert Potter was excommunicated. He was imprisoned in Rowley, Massachusetts and while there he was visited by Mr. Ward and gave him advice. Robert was an Assistant in Rhode Island in 648, Commissioner in 1651 and was given a licence to keep an ordinary or tavern in Warwick in 1655.

Their daughter Elizabeth married Richard Harcourt.
