Notes for William Ludlam
-William Ludlam was born about 1605 at Matlock, Derbyshire, England. He married Clemence Fordham, said to be the daughter of Reverend Philip Robert Fordham. Their children were born in Derbyshire. Clemence died in 1647. His two eldest sons arrived in Massachusetts on the ship “Triall”. It is believed that following the death of his son John, William followed his eldest sons arriving in Boston in 1650. He moved to Southampton, New York in 1653. He made a contract to rebuild a mill and to serve as the town’s miller. He lived out his life and died there in the spring of 1665.
Their son William Joseph Ludlam married Elisabeth Townsend, daughter of John Townsend and Elizabeth Montgomery.
