-Reverend Thomas James of Lincolnshire came to America in 1632 in the ship “William and Frances”. He attended Emmanuel College, Cambridge and received his B.A. in 1615 and M.A. in 1618. He married Olive Ingoldsby on 20 April 1620 at Fishtoft, Lincolnshire, England. He was admitted an inhabitant of Charlestown, in October of 1632. They were Puritans. After some controversy at the church he relocated to Providence, Rhode Island.  He returned to England in 1646.
 
Their son Reverend Thomas James, born in 1622, married Ruth Jones the daughter of Reverend John and Sarah Jones in 1648. He was the Paster at Southampton for 46 years from 1650 to 1696. In the next generation their daughter Mary James married John Stratton, son of John Stratton and Sarah Bancroft. In the next generation their daughter Ruth Stratton married John hedges, son of Stephen Hedges and Hannah Stratton.
