-Reverend John Jones was born at St. Stephen Coleman Street, London, England, in 1594. He married Sarah, born in 1601, in 1619. He matriculated at Cambridge from Queen’s College in 1608, received his B.A. in 1613, his M..A. in 1616. They were Puritans. He was assigned as the Rector at Bishop’s Ripton, Huntington. On 3 June 1630 John was suspended as rector at Abbot’s Ripton “for refusing to adhere to rites and ceremonies in the book of public prayers”.  In 1635 They migrated to Concord, Massachusetts on the ship “Defence”. On 6 October 1635 their arrival is recorded by Governor John Winthrop. He settled at Concord, Massachusetts with Reverend Peter Bulkeley. He was ordained Pastor at Concord  6 April 1637. Reverend Jones twice got tangled up in the Massachusetts witchcraft controversy. They moved to Fairfield, Connecticut in 1644 where he was the Pastor from 1644 to 1665.
 
Their daughter Ruth Jones married Reverend Thomas James, son of the Reverend Thomas James of Needham Market, Suffolk, England. In the next generation their daughter Mary James married John Stratton, son of John Stratton and Sarah Bancroft.
