-Edward White was born in about 1593 in Cranbrook, Kent, England. He married Martha White born in about 1596, also from Cranbrook. They were Puritans. They left England on 22 June 1635 on board the ship “Abigail” and settled in Dorchester, Massachusetts. They were admitted to the church in 1636.
 
Their daughter Mary married Lieutenant Thomas Leffingwell of Norwich, Connecticut. He was famous as a friend of Chief Uncas of the Mohegans. In the next generation their daughter Mary Leffingwell married Joseph Bushnell.
