-Richard Bidewell, referred to as Goodman Bidewell in the records, was an early settler at Windsor, Connecticut, he migrated likely on or before 1635 when Windsor was settled. They were Puritans.
 
His son John Bidewell born in England around 1620 accompanied him. John settled in Hartford, Connecticut and married Sarah Wilcox, a daughter of John and Mary Wilcox. John Bidewell had 4 acres of land in Hartford assigned to him in 1639.  John owned a tan yard in on an island in Little River in what is now called Bushnell’s Park. John Bidewell and Sarah Wilcox son Samuel married Elizabeth Stow, daughter of Thomas Stow and Mary Griggs.
