-Thomas Upson was born about 1617 in Suffolk, England. It is uncertain when he emigrated to New England, but he is first recorded in Hartford, Connecticut in 1639. It is said he came from Massachusetts. He is acknowledged as one of the original proprietors of Hartford and is on the Founders Monument. In 1639 he is censured and fined for excessive drinking. His future wife, Elizabeth, is charged with committing fornication on21 August 1646. Why her partner wasn’t charged who knows. He married Elizabeth on 23 January 1647. Their daughter Hannah was born in about 1646.
