Notes for Richard Norman - Direct Ancestor (Family North Anerican Puoneer)
-Richard Norman was born in England about 1576. He married Florence about 1606. They emigrated to Cape Ann, Massachusetts in 1623. Cape Ann is located about 30 miles northeast of Boston. In 1623 the Dorchester Company established a settlement to fish and trade with the Indians. The people who came there are referred to as “Old Planters” by those from the Massachusetts Bay Colonies. Richard Norman was one of those Planters. He was a shipwright and fisherman. The Dorchester Company failed and Richard relocated to Salem before 1628. By 1650 he had moved to Marblehead “beyond the immediate influence of the Salem church-state”.

His daughter Susannah married Sergeant Robert Trent Lockwood. In the next generation their daughter Sarah Lockwood married Lieutenant Abraham Adams.
