-James Bennet was born about 1619. There is uncertainty about his parentage, however, there is a record of a James Bennet, servant to Nathaniel Tilden of Tenterden who emigrated on the ship “Hercules” of Sandwich, dated 4 March 1635. He was a “freeman” of Concord by 1639. This is the same year he married Hannah Wheeler, daughter of Lieutenant Thomas Wheeler and Ann Halsey. She was born in 1617 in England. They moved to Fairfield, Connecticut in 1644. He is mentioned in his father-in-law’s will in 1654. He died in 1659 at Fairfield.
 
Their son Thomas Bennet married Elizabeth Thompson.
