Sergeant Francis Nichols was born about 1575 in Evesham, Worcestershire, England. He married Frances Wimarke on 24 January 1600 at Sedgeborrow. They emigrated to New England by 1639, when he was one of the founders of Stratford, Connecticut and the General Court put him in charge of military affairs. He was Sergeant of the Stratford, Trainband. He settled in Stratford, Connecticut by 10 October 1639.
