Enlisted in the Armed Forces on the 17th of July 1941 in Edmonton. Joined the 39th Air Reconnasiance Wing.
Landed in Juno Beach, Normandy on the 12th of June 1943, first stationed at Sommervieu, close to Bayeux; then moved to Ste Honorine de Ducy; then moved to Avrilly all in France.
On the 23rd of September moved to Diest in Belgium, then in October they moved to Eindhoven in Holland. He was billeted with the VanderLinden family in Eindhoven.
Moved to Petit Brogel in Belgium in March 1945, they crossed the Rhine on the 30th of March 1945; located at Rheine, Germany; then to Wunstorf, then Soltua, Germany until 25th of April.
On the day of surrender, the 8th of May 1945 they relocated to Luneberg where they stayed until 7 August 1945.
Gordon visited Bergen-Belsen shortly after it was liberated.
He had a side trip to Copenhagen to allow some officers to investigate the Nazi headquarters in Copenhagen.
Gordon was Alderman for Valemount in 1964; 1968; 1969; 1970; 1971; 1972 and 1973.
Gordon was Mayor for Valemount 1974 to 1979.
