Enlisted in the Army on 29th of November 1939. Joined the Seaforth Highlanders of Vancouver.
Landed at Pachino in Sicily on the 10 July 1943. On the 4th of August 1943 he was wounded during a battle on Mount Etna and was evacuated to North Africa.
Rejoined the regiment at Ortona and fought until the batle of Bagnacovella during which he was wounded again and again evacuated to North Africa.
Ralph had a laundramat, a trailer park, and owned his own sawmills.
Ralph was Alderman for Valemount in 1967; 1968 and 1969.
Ralph was Mayor of Valemount 1970 through 1973.
